A search warrant issued, but not served, on the property owned by Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick sought to unearth the remains of "approximately 30 dogs buried in various locations on the property." The warrant stated "reliable sources of information reveal" the presence of the dog remains and, on May 22, "was informed that on or about April 23, 2007, that seven pit bulls were destroyed and buried in shallow graves on the property."

PARMA, OHIO –

The allegations come just after the community was finally finding faith in its police force.

A previous scandal plagued Parma’s police force, from it’s former corrupt chief to alleged overtime abuses.

After two years and several attempts, a police levy barely passed last Tuesday. But would it have passed if this investigation had been public?

“I’m not going to go into any details. It would be inappropriate at this time to do so,” Captain Wayne Schmigel said.

Parma police do verify that veteran officers, Patrolmen Christopher Dillenbeck and Mark Mccombs were accused of having sex with a woman they picked up while on duty.

“The officers were placed on paid administrative leave. We’ve taken their service weapons and (the officers) were instructed not to do any jobs in uniform,” Capatin Schmigel said.

The incident allegedly occurred on April first, somewhere near or on the grounds of Padua High School.

The details of the alleged incident and investigation are being kept secret.

Target 3 has learned police are reviewing security video from that day.

Cameras are mounted on the side and roof of the school and may have captured these cops on tape.

Parma Police say the levy and this investigation, have no connection.

While it’s true the allegations were made April 18th, nearly three weeks before the election, investigators say they were not able to verify any of the details until after the election.

A family get-together turned deadly early this morning after a 50-year-old Euclid man vomited on his niece's couch.

Johnny M. Smith was shot several times in the chest and stomach by his niece, Roxanne L. Smith of Cleveland, Cleveland police spokesman Lt. Thomas Stacho said.

The two relatives, who were drinking, argued around 1 a.m. after Johnny Smith became sick. Roxanne Smith, 46, who hosted the party at her Eddy Road home, then returned to the living room and shot her uncle several times. He died in surgery at Huron Hospital.

1. I am tired of people competing where there is no competition. Why must people create drama when there should be none? Why must people compete for things, like title and place, where there is none? I know not. I would like these people consigned to a hell where, even if they gave their own entrails as payment, IT WOULD STILL NOT BE ENOUGH TO GET THEM PROMOTED TO BEING A STEPLADDER!!!!

2. I am tired of hypocrisy. Why, when you show kindness, is it suspect? I am sure this is a byproduct of the first problem. Foolish people who suspect everything everyone else does because they, themselves are ingenuous fucks who couldn't be decent even if they were FORCED TO! They do there best to hurt, to slander, to sneak and slide the blade in backstabwise whenever they can...this is the majority, this is the wall that must be surmounted otherwise you drown in a sea of their nastiness even though you just, really, down deep, want to be a good person (an odd term these day, I know). These bastards are so busy suspecting and then counter-screwing each other, they've forgotten what a shred of any good intentions could ever be.

3. I am tired of people who couldn't use their brains if they knew where they were. They can consider the fucking soap operas, the reality shows, their expensive hand bags made of the skins of third-world peoples, they can be busy with their partying and ordering their kids to compete and create in the ways they never could, trying to live out their lost glories by proxy...USE YOUR OWN LIVES, LIVE THEM YOURSELVES YOU IDIOTS!!

Japan's agricultural minister died Monday after reportedly hanging himself just hours before he was to face questioning in parliament in a political scandal, officials said.

The death comes just ahead of important elections in July, and as support for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's Cabinet is plunging.

Toshikatsu Matsuoka, 62, was found unconscious in his apartment and rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead hours later, a Tokyo Metropolitan Police official said.

Japanese media reported that Matsuoka had been found hanging in his apartment, along with a suicide note, and that efforts to resuscitate him at the hospital failed. Yasuhisa Shiozaki, the chief government spokesman, said police were still investigating the cause of death.

Matsuoka had faced heavy criticism over a scandal involving suspicious bookkeeping practices in his offices, and was scheduled to appear before a parliamentary committee Monday afternoon for further questioning.

He was under fire for allegedly claiming more than $236,600 in utility fees even though he rented a parliamentary office where utility costs are free. Opposition lawmakers had demanded his resignation, but Matsuoka denied any wrongdoing.

Abe had defended Matsuoka, saying that the agriculture minister reported to him all the alleged issues were properly handled and that his dismissal was not needed.

Matsuoka had been dogged by scandal. Along with the utilities questions, he apologized publicly just three days after taking office for not declaring $8,500 in political donations.

He acknowledged the undeclared funds, which came in the form of purchased tickets to a fundraising party, saying he was unaware that the contributions had not been reported. Matsuoka had since corrected his political funds report for 2005.

Japan's political funds law requires politicians to declare such donations when they exceed $1,700, Kyodo News said. The contributions came from the World Business Expert Forum, a group associated with scandal-hit business consultant FAC Co., which was raided by authorities in June on suspicion of illegally collecting funds from investors, Kyodo said.

Japan's suicide rate is among the highest in the industrialized world. More than 32,000 Japanese took their own lives in 2004, the bulk of them older Japanese suffering financial woes as the country struggled through a decade of economic stagnation.

With the Cleveland Cavaliers heading into an Eastern Conference Finals showdown with the hated Detroit Pistons, fans can expect the usual analyses and yak-yak to dominate the non-stop reporting over the next week or so.

Can LeBron James establish himself as the heir apparent to Michael Jordan by lifting his team past the experienced and heavily favored Pistons? Will Detroit coach Flip Sanders be able to flick off his record as a playoff flop? What kind of new dance steps will Damon Jones come up with for pre-game introductions? How long will it take for TNT analyst Charles Barkley to trash the city of Cleveland? According to the Ohio Legislature, should the Cavalier Girls be lumped into the same legal category as strippers?

This year, however -- courtesy of veteran Cavalier reserve Ira Newble -- there may be another topic introduced into the predictable discourse: the genocide in Darfur. As first reported this month by Plain Dealer Cavs beat writer Branson Wright, Newble is leading an effort to get signatures on an open letter to the government of China regarding its investments and business dealings in Sudan -- where hundreds of thousands have been killed and millions have become refugees in Darfur Province. Newble's letter urges China "to use all available diplomatic resources and economic pressure to end the agony of Darfur, and to secure access for U.N. peace support personnel."

"I've been aware of political and social issues around the world," said Newble after practice the other afternoon at the Q. "But this is the first time I've ever acted on it. This issue sort of reached out to me and I decided to help."

Surprisingly, Newble's effort has garnered a significant amount of publicity with stories in the New York Times, New York Sun, Sports Illustrated and on CNN. Yesterday morning, it was the subject of a commentary on ESPN's "The Sports Reporters" and that network also plans to give the story more coverage during the playoffs. Not surprisingly, the thrust of most of this coverage has been directed at Newble's teammate James, who has chosen not to sign the letter, and the question as to why today's athletes -- as compared to the numerous sports figures 30 or 40 years ago who were social activists -- seem so reluctant to speak out on anything controversial.

"A lot of the guys are young, 22 or 23 and when I was that age I didn't care too much about what was going on," said Newble. "Others feel that you have to be careful what you speak out about. There are consequences if people don't like what you say... contracts, marketing deals. Look what happened to Craig Hodges."

Hodges was a member of the world champion Chicago Bulls of the early '90s. When the team was honored at the White House in '91, Hodges handed a letter to President George H.W. Bush that reportedly protested the conditions in urban America. Shortly thereafter, Hodges was out of the league and has consistently maintained that he was blacklisted because of that letter.

Now that may or may not be the only reason Hodges found himself out of a job, but what can't be denied is that the number of professional athletes who take unpopular stands on divisive issues can practically be counted on the fingers of one hand. The Washington Wizards Etan Thomas spoke at a large anti-war rally in 2005, Steve Nash came out against the Iraqi War in 2003, and Golden State's Adonal Foyle started a group in 2002 called Democracy Matters to educate young people on political matters and governmental corruption. As far a basketball players go, that's about it.

James, who said he didn't sign the letter because he doesn't know enough about the issue, is a global icon who has designs on becoming a billionaire and is being heavily marketed in the Far East. His fellow Cav non-signee, Damon Jones, has his shoe contract with a Chinese company.

Arguably, there may be monetary factors at play in their unwillingness to become involved in this particular issue, but whatever the reasons, the silence of today's athletes on social ills is deafening.

"You talk to players today about the perils of speaking out and it hangs over their heads like a cyst," writes Dave Zirin in his book, What's My Name, Fool? Sports and Resistance in the United States. "Sports and left-wing politics don't mix."

But here in Cleveland, Ira Newble has decided to mix it up a bit and take a stand, saying, "I'm new to this, but I want to make sure I'm pretty well-versed so that I can't be accused of not knowing what I'm talking about. That's important."

It's also going to be a tough sell in the world of predominantly me-first players, perpetually fevered fans and a perennially cynical media. When I informed one of the Cavs beat writers about Newble's comments, he said, "That letter is a joke."

I guess he thinks the pre-game dancing of Damon Jones is a serious matter.

The symbolism Chillingworth possesses holds meanings that are very powerful. First, both his attitude, and the result of his revenge describe the effects of one’s vengeance. Not only did he slowly decompose the life of Reverend Dimmesdale, but after the death, he lost reason for living, and died also. Now, at the beginning of the book, certain empathy can be felt with Chillingworth. Many can relate to having a spouse or friend who has wronged the other through lying, cheating, and/or evil or sins. Every day, you may hear about a person who has committed adultery, breaking apart a family or causing others grief. A reader will understand the need for revenge when something of this nature occurs, and will at first side with Chillingworth. Yet, as the book progresses, his side of evil is shown through his actions, thoughts, looks, and feelings. Chillingworth appears as a character, brought into a ‘destined for perfection’ society, as the sinful tempter of the colony. One, who’s vengeful tactics led to the deaths of two men, and who’s sinister plan changed the aspects of a society. Although he was originally the only character without a problem or a sin, he became the one who performed the worst sins of all
